Constructed in 1893, the Powers-Dodd House featured a medical office and was originally built for Dr. John B. Powers and his wife, Harriet Brewer, the granddaughter of first Wake Forest College
president, Samuel Wait. In 1897, the neighboring Powers Store opened as a drug and general store, later becoming the Law fraternity for wake forest college, a local book store and “The Corner Ice
Cream Parlor” for three decades.
After the ice cream parlor closed its doors, "The Corner and Meeting House" underwent a major restoration project that spanned several years. Today, both locations serve as historically elegant
event space, ready to host you and your guest!
